Dan and Helen were our hosts on their patio on a beautiful late summer evening. A great environment for Elspeth P to entertain us with a slide show about her fab trip to Ireland this summer for the Beer Writers Conference. The craft beer scene is finally taking off in the Emerald Isle and Elspeth told us that in just a year's time many more craft brews have become available. This is great news for a land that is dominated by Guinness, Smithwicks, and a few other macro brewers.
The beer theme for the month was Oktoberfest and we had plenty on hand to sample. A few local and a number from the motherland of Spaten, Ayinger, etc. Great tastings throughout. A number of excellent homebrews were on tap and in bottles.
Dan gave a great tour of his brewery and answered a number of questions about Brew In A Bag brewing. We're looking forward to his talk at the end of the year on this topic.
Tee shirts were distributed, beer & food consumed, and a little knowledge was transferred. All-in-all, another great BADASS evening. Thanks again to our hosts and to Elspeth.
